1、 Case background
A well-known kitchenware brand faced an important challenge when launching a new kitchen lid: how to achieve efficient bonding and sealing between glass and stainless steel while meeting food safety standards (FDA requirements). This pot lid design requires a small bonding area, high construction accuracy, and excellent weather resistance and chemical resistance to adapt to the working environment of high temperature, humidity, and the presence of various chemicals in the kitchen.

2、 Customer needs and challenges
In this project, the client mainly focuses on the following points:
Food grade safety
Due to the direct contact of the product with food, the sealant must comply with FDA standards and meet environmental certification requirements such as ROHS, REACH, TSCA, and VOC to ensure health and safety during use.
Material adhesion
The product involves the bonding of two substrates, glass and stainless steel, requiring the sealant to form a firm and stable bonding interface between different materials.
Construction accuracy
Due to the small bonding area and complex shape, high precision is required for dispensing. The sealant needs to have excellent thixotropy to ensure that the head and tail are fused without obvious breakage or defects during the dispensing process.
Long term stability
Considering the particularity of the kitchen environment, after curing, the sealant should maintain good mechanical and electrical properties within the temperature range of -60 ℃ to 260 ℃, and have the characteristics of moisture resistance, chemical resistance, pollution resistance and aging resistance to ensure that the service life of the product can reach 20-30 years.
