With the rapid development of intelligent vehicles and autonomous driving technology, proximity sensors have become an indispensable “sensory organ” to ensure driving safety. They are like “eyes” that monitor the surrounding environment of the vehicle in real-time. However, these precision electronic components face harsh working conditions such as high and low temperature alternation, vibration, humidity, dust, etc. during long-term service, which puts higher demands on sealing and structural protection.
To this end, Elaplus has launched the EP 1703 series, a black epoxy potting adhesive designed specifically for automotive sensor packaging. It integrates bonding, potting, waterproofing, moisture resistance, and impact resistance, and is a reliable “armor” to ensure the stable operation of electronic devices.
1、 Application scenario: Challenges of automotive proximity sensors
In modern cars, proximity sensors are widely used in functional modules such as reverse radar, blind spot monitoring, automatic parking, and collision warning. Sensors are usually placed in the front and rear, bumper or side wings of the vehicle, directly exposed to the external environment. The main challenges are as follows:
Adverse environment: frequent exposure to rain, snow, high temperature, high humidity, or dust.
Complex structure: Small internal circuit space, dense components, high requirements for gel fluidity and encapsulation.
High mechanical stress: Vibration and impact during high-speed driving may cause components to loosen or be damaged.
Optical concealment: To prevent reflection or leakage, dark (black) packaging materials are required.
EP 1703 black epoxy sealant is the ideal material customized to solve these problems.

2、 Product Highlights: Elaplus EP 1703 Black Epoxy Sealing Adhesive
Strong temperature adaptability, universal in all seasons
The working temperature range is -40 ℃ to 120 ℃, and it is not afraid of cold and hot weather. Heating curing or room temperature curing processes can be selected to adapt to different working conditions and assembly rhythms.
3、 Simple process and easy production integration
EP 1703 adopts a two-component design (A: B=100:25), which is easy to operate and suitable for automated dispensing equipment and small batch manual sealing:
Operating time after mixing: 45 ± 10 minutes (150g)
Recommended curing method:
Room temperature curing: complete curing within 24 hours;
Heating curing: Bake at 80 ℃ for 2 hours, suitable for shortening working hours and increasing production capacity.
4、 Application structure reference: Sensor encapsulation diagram (can be attached)
The core components such as the internal circuit board, coil, and PCB of the sensor are all covered and sealed;
Colloid tightly fills the structural cavity to prevent water vapor from entering;
The black adhesive layer evenly wraps around the circuit board, enhancing its strength and providing electrical insulation.
The trend of intelligentization in automobiles is becoming increasingly evident, and proximity sensors hidden throughout the vehicle are taking on the responsibility of perceiving the world. EP 1703 black epoxy sealant, although unremarkable, is the hero behind the scenes who safeguards the stable operation of these critical components.
Elaplus has always focused on the field of electronic packaging, providing customers with professional and reliable adhesive solutions to help intelligent manufacturing go further.
