In today’s trend of lightweight and portable tablet computers, with compact internal space and dense interfaces, ensuring the stability and reliability of USB interfaces under complex working conditions such as long-term plugging, vibration, thermal expansion and contraction has become a major challenge in electronic manufacturing.
customer pain points
The customer discovered during the research and development process that:
USB interface is prone to looseness – after multiple insertions and removals, the interface may experience slight displacement, and the solder joints are easily damaged by force;
Insufficient environmental adaptability – the fixation effect decreases in high humidity and large temperature difference environments;
Material compatibility issues – some adhesives release corrosive gases during curing, posing potential hazards to components such as PC (polycarbonate) and copper.
Glue requirements
Has good adhesion to different materials such as metal and plastic;
After curing, it has flame-retardant, insulating, and seismic properties;
Maintain stability within a wide temperature range of -60 ℃ to 250 ℃;
Long term use without aging, ensuring interface stability.
Recommended solution: SIPC 1858 silicone adhesive sealant
In response to the above requirements, we recommend SIPC 1858 titanium ester system dealcoholized silicone adhesive sealant.
Its core advantage lies in:
✅ Excellent adhesion: It has good adhesion to both plastic and metal, ensuring long-term stability of the USB interface;
✅ Non corrosive: The curing process only releases trace amounts of methanol and does not corrode materials such as PC and copper;
✅ UL 94V-0 flame retardant certification: meets international electronic safety standards and has a high fire rating;
✅ Electrical insulation and seismic performance: effectively resist corona and leakage, while reducing mechanical stress;
✅ Ultra long lifespan: With excellent weather resistance, the service life can reach 20-30 years.
Application effect
In actual customer testing:
After 5000+cycles of plugging and unplugging, the USB interface remains sturdy and stable;
After being tested for 1000 hours in a high temperature and high humidity environment of 85 ℃/85% RH, the adhesive performance did not deteriorate;
In the simulated drop impact test, there was no looseness or cracking between the interface and the motherboard.
By using SIPC 1858 silicone adhesive sealant, the customer successfully solved the problem of fixing and protecting USB interfaces, and the product achieved significant improvements in reliability and safety. This not only ensures the user experience for end users, but also reduces the risk and cost of rework caused by loose interfaces.
In precision consumer electronics devices such as tablets, although the interface is only a “small detail”, it often determines the “long-term stability” of the entire machine. SIPC 1858 proves with strength that a small drop of glue can safeguard great stability.
