In the field of precision electronic components, the sealing treatment of damping terminals is a key link to improve product reliability and extend service life. It can not only effectively isolate the erosion of the external environment, but also endow the terminal with excellent mechanical properties. Today, we will delve into a successful case of damping terminal sealing, revealing how to achieve a dual improvement in performance and efficiency through precise adhesive solutions.
1、 Project Background: Challenges and Opportunities Coexist
This case focuses on the encapsulation of high-performance damping terminals. Faced with increasingly stringent market demands, our engineering team needs to address a series of technical challenges while ensuring the insulation and durability of electronic connections within the terminals. The core goals include: using black adhesive on the front-end to achieve light blocking and aesthetics; The backend needs to use transparent adhesive for easy detection; More importantly, the adhesive must adhere tightly to the fiberglass material and have moderate hardness and excellent resilience after curing to cope with complex mechanical stresses.
2、 Elaborate on the requirements for adhesive: considerations for continuous improvement
Clear color differentiation and diverse functions
Front end black adhesive: mainly responsible for preventing light, peeping, and enhancing the integrated appearance of the product. Black can effectively absorb and block light, protect internal sensitive components from light exposure, and enhance the professionalism and sophistication of the product.
Backend transparent adhesive: The core value lies in its transparency. It allows engineers to visually inspect the sealing quality, such as the condition of bubbles, gel filling, and the position of internal components, and is an indispensable part of quality control and process optimization.
Excellent adhesion performance, seamlessly integrated with fiberglass
The surface characteristics of fiberglass materials commonly used in damping terminals pose a challenge to the adhesive strength of glue. We require the adhesive to achieve seamless bonding with fiberglass, eliminating gaps and delamination, thereby significantly improving the overall structure’s tensile and vibration resistance, and ensuring long-term reliability.
Moderate hardness and good resilience
The hardness of the sealant directly affects the damping effect and service life. Hard colloids are prone to brittle fracture under stress and cannot effectively cushion impacts; If it is too soft, it cannot provide necessary support and protection. Therefore, we pursue a balance of “rigidity and flexibility” to ensure that the adhesive layer has sufficient support and excellent resilience after curing, achieving the desired damping effect.
3、 Recommended product and application effect: SIPC1908 2130 double adhesive attack
After rigorous screening and multiple rounds of testing, Yilian finally identified two star products, SIPC1908 and 2130, which perfectly meet all the stringent requirements mentioned above:
SIPC 1908 black adhesive (used for front-end sealing)
Excellent shading performance: Pure black formula effectively blocks all harmful light.
Super strong adhesion: exhibiting excellent adhesion to fiberglass materials, forming a sturdy bonding interface.
Moderate hardness and elasticity: After curing, it has just the right hardness while maintaining good elasticity, providing reliable mechanical protection and ideal damping effect for the front end of the terminal.
SIPC 2130 transparent adhesive (used for backend sealing)
Ultimate high transparency: ensuring no blind spots in the visual inspection of the backend encapsulation layer, effectively monitoring the internal components and gel status.
Equally outstanding adhesive performance: firmly bonded with fiberglass, providing reliable mechanical support.
Excellent environmental resistance and electrical insulation properties: ensuring that the encapsulation layer can maintain stable performance and effective insulation in various harsh environments.
Moderate elasticity, not easy to crack: After curing, a rubber layer with good elasticity is formed to ensure long-term use without cracking.
4、 Process implementation and effect verification: data speaks, strength witnesses
In actual production, we precisely apply SIPC 1908 to the front end of the damping terminal for sealing, and then inject SIPC 2130 into the back end. The entire curing process is strictly controlled at a constant temperature of 27 ± 3 ℃ for 24 hours to ensure that the colloid is fully crosslinked and the performance reaches its optimal state.
The on-site inspection results are encouraging:
Adhesive strength: The glue is tightly bonded to the fiberglass without any delamination or gaps, and the adhesive strength far exceeds industry standards.
Mechanical performance: The cured terminal has excellent rebound performance, effectively buffering mechanical vibration and impact, greatly improving the durability of the product.
Quality control: The clear color design at the front and back greatly simplifies the post quality inspection process and effectively reduces the potential defect rate.
